Pair of Vintage Italian Brutalist Twin Arm Brass Wall Lights

A pair of Italian wall sconces cast in solid brass, built in the bold, geometric language of 1970s brutalism. Each fixture carries a concentric bullseye medallion at its centre, with deeply scored vertical lines running down both arms. The cast surfaces catch and break the light, and the twin arms articulate so you can direct the glow where you want it.

The sconces are of original Italian manufacture from the 1970s, when Italian designers were turning brass and bronze to sculptural, architectural forms. Rather than a single named workshop, they belong to the broader Italian brutalist tradition of the period, where lighting was made as much to be looked at as to light a room.

The character is in the casting. Each piece is hand-cast, and the bullseye medallion and scored lines are worked into the brass rather than applied, which is what gives the subtle shadow play and textural depth across the surface. The brass has aged to a natural patina that deepens the sculptural quality and marks the pair as genuinely vintage. Twin articulating arms make them practical as well as sculptural.

The pair suit an entry hall, a living room, or either side of a bed, and settle into a mid-century, industrial, or pared-back contemporary Australian interior where their form can be read. Both are in very good-excellent vintage condition, with patina consistent with age and use. Each comes with a matching crisp white linen slip shade, made to order after purchase.
