A rare pair of bell-shaped table lamps in Murano glass and solid brass by legendary Italian glass master Ercole Barovier. Crafted in the 1940s during Barovier's most celebrated period, these romantic table lamps showcase the distinctive bellflower form that became synonymous with his innovative approach to functional lighting design.

Ercole Barovier (1889-1974) is regarded as one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century Murano glass making. Working from his studio on the Venetian island of Murano, he revolutionized traditional glassmaking techniques throughout the 1930s and 1940s. His work bridged fine art and functional design, creating pieces that elevated everyday objects into sculptural statements. In 1942, he co-founded Barovier & Toso, one of Italy's most prestigious glass manufactories, where his visionary designs continue to influence contemporary glassmaking.

These finely crafted lamps exemplify Barovier's mastery of mouth-blown Murano crystal glass combined with solid brass hardware. Each lamp features the characteristic bell-shaped shade that tilts to different angles, allowing you to direct light precisely where needed. The adjustable shade design was revolutionary for its time, combining aesthetic beauty with practical functionality. The brass frames have been preserved with their natural patina, displaying a beautiful dark brown hue that enhances the historical character and authenticity of these pieces.

Perfect for Australian interiors seeking European sophistication, these lamps work beautifully as bedside lighting, flanking a console table in an entryway, or adding ambient illumination to a living room. The combination of hand-blown Murano glass and aged brass complements mid-century modern, Art Deco, Italian modern, and eclectic maximalist interiors. Their adjustable shades make them ideal for reading lamps or accent lighting.
