Anton Martineau was an internationally-renowned artist who resided in Amsterdam. He received his education from the Royal Academy of Art (Hague) and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten. Alongside the famous Lucebert, Martineau traveled to France to pursue his passion for art. In 1967, he exhibited his work alongside Saura and Tapies at the Gallery Stadler in Paris. He was part of a generation of artists slightly younger than the CoBrA painters, and his repertoire included paintings, drawings, and graphics with a strong expressionistic figurative style.
